Ah yes - that's for climbing uphill, and then boarding back down. Much better than having to hike up on snowshoes and then carry the 'shoes on your back for the ride down.

Ooh, interesting. Do you have a link?

You can also get snowblades (far left of this pic): http://www.flickr.com/photos/26786061@N00/4407387627/in/set-72157625609280687

And there's a company out there trying to market two-footed snowboards: http://www.dualsnowboards.net/

The sad thing is that it's almost impossible to stop a determined bike thief, regardless of the locks and cables. It's really too bad. I have an older bike for riding around town, and try not to leave the better ones locked up anywhere visible for any length of time.

sidecut who posted in the Courier re stolen bikes. In downtown vancouver at the Wall Centre guys were breaking down bikes in daylight. When you realize that any sort of metal globally on the planet people are stealing, you get the picture.

From the beginning of time, bike lockers are the most dangerous place to leave a bike. I had to stop at the Number orange Pub at Main Street and Cordova, I think. I had 4 cable locks and 2 u-locks and checked the bike every 20 minutes to see if was there. And it was. There are problems - it is too expensive to arrest, charge and put them in jail. Nobody makes that kind of money to pay the taxes to support putting a guy in jail for a year. If daycare is $50.00 per day for a baby for a teenager for young person to look after, how much would it cost to hire a person to look after a murder or a thief 24 hour a day. Cheers
